The S.O.S. collection of the JDC, through which it is hoped to raise 20,000,000 pounds of relief supplies for needy Jews throughout the world, to supplement the regular JDC program was officially launched today at a luncheon meeting of its national executive committee at the Hotel Roosevelt.
Mrs. Anna Rosenberg, who visited Europe as a personal representative of the late President Roosevelt, told the assembled women that what has already been accomplished for the surviving Jews there did not begin to meet the needs. Mrs. Isaac Gilman, SOS chairman for Greater New York, reported that 500,000 pounds of supplies have already been collected. Over 300 cities throughout the country are participating in the drive.
