Persons not of British nationality today were strictly forbidden to engage in any organized political or public activity in the Union of South Africa, by an executive decree designed to curb Nazism, the Havas News Agency reported.
British nationals were forbidden to take an oath of fidelity to, or obey the orders of, the sovereign or chief of any state outside the British commonwealth of nations.
Violators of the latter provision will be liable to fines of £100 (about $490) or one year in prison.
