Messrs. L. and P. Policansky of Cape Town have purchased 600 dunam of land near the Nes Zion Colony in Judea. An adjoining tract of 300 dunam has been purchased by Messrs. Chaim Jace and Max Gurland, both of Cape Town. The former is now in Palestine.
These two stretches constitute some of the best plantation lands in the country. The Jewish National Fund had been negotiating for the purchase of 300 dunam, part of the area bought by the Brothers Policansky, but owing to lack of funds was unable to acquire it.
Messrs. Policansky have, however, given the Jewish National Fund an option up till the end of the year, of buying the 300 dunam back from them at the same, price as they paid, viz: £11 per dunam.
Only Jewish labor will be employed on the plantations.
The Free Synagogue Radio Service is conducted from 3 to 4 o’clock Sunday afternoons from the studio of the National Broadcasting Company. These stations include WEAF and twenty associated stations. The service is conducted by Dr. Stephen S. Wise with the assistance of the Free Synagogue quartette under the direction of the Choirmaster, A. W. Binder.
Rabbi Norman Salit of Congregation Shaaray Tefila, Far. Rockaway, N. Y., upon the expiration of his contract with the Congregation, declined the trustees’ offer for a new contract. Rabbi Salit stated that he intends to enter business or the legal profession. He will become a member of the Congregation which he served as rabbi.
