Chief Rabbi Louis I. Rabinowitz of the United Hebrew Congregation of South Africa, who served with the British armed forces as a chaplain for more than five years, has announced that he will refuse to wear British military decorations and has urged other servicemen to follow suit.

His statement, which was made at a mass meeting here last Thursday to protest events in Palestine, was criticized today by the Board of Deputies of South African Jews. The Board formally disassociated itself from his action.
