The major part of a $230,000 estate of an 80-year-old bachelor, Dr. Solomon E. Speelman, has been bequeathed for a fund to assist non-Jewish students, particularly Japanese students, at the Hebrew University.
The fund is for such students who wish to study Judaism in Israel for purposes of treading it in Africa and Asia, “more particularly in Japan,” Dr. Speelman died here recently.
