Formation of a public relations committee to mobilize the Jewish community in defence of Jewish rights was announced at the monthly meeting of the South African Board of Jewish Deputies. The committee, which will include representatives of all sections of the Jewish community, will issue literature to counteract anti-Semitic propaganda.

Anti-Jewish propaganda has been intensified in the Cape Province, the board was told, and General Manie Maritz is organizing a new anti-Semitic organization called the Afrikaner Volk, with a “typical Fascist program,” The “Protocols of the Elders of Zion, “discredited record of a purported Jewish plot for world domination, has been printed in the afrikan language, it was reported by the board’s executive committee. The report warned, however, against drawing an unduly pessimistic, impression, pointing out that many forces in the country cherished religious and civil liberty and were alive to the danger of anti Semitism.
