The South African Zionist Council announced today a decision to set up a commission to study the problems of financing the growing Jewish day school movement in South Africa. A request will be made to the Jewish Agency for a loan of 200, 000 pounds to meet immediate needs of these schools.
The decision was reached at a meeting here attended by Zionist leaders from all provinces and Rhodesia. The Zionist Council reported that there are Jewish day schools in Johannesburg, Capetown, Port Elisabeth, Durban and Pretoria but they are all struggling with financial problems.
