A group of 50 South African navy personnel are in Israel training to operate Israeli-built missile boats, Kol Israel reported last night. The Israeli radio station said Israel is building for South Africa two of the boats which are of the Reshef class, the same type that participated in New York’s Operation Sail July 4. The first boat, equipped with Israeli Gabriel sea-to-sea missiles, is expected to be delivered early next year, according to the radio. The radio also reported that an Israeli-designed coastal patrol boat will be built under license in South Africa.
