Ownership of the South African Jewish Times, the largest Jewish newspaper in South Africa, has changed hands. Leon Feldberg, founder of the paper and its editor for 33 years, has sold his controlling interest to Felix Stark, managing director of a firm of trade publications which will affiliate with the company owning the Times. Mr. Stark will become editor-in-chief of all the firm’s publications. Edgar Bernstein, assistant editor of the Times for 25 years, will succeed Mr. Feldberg as editor, and Arthur Markowitz, a Times senior editor for 25 years, will become assistant editor. Mr. Bernstein is the Jewish Telegraphic Agency’s South African correspondent. Mr. Feldberg said in a farewell editorial that he intends to travel and will retain his association with the paper as a roving foreign editor.
