Dr. Andre Chouraqui, delegate of the central committee of the Alliance Israelite Universelle, who arrived in New York after an extensive tour of Latin America on behalf of the Alliance, today stated that in the countries he visited he found a very genuine interest in the fate of the Jewish populations of North Africa and the Middle East.
Dr. Chourqui visited Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Chile, Bolivia, Peru and Mexico. As a result of his trip new groups of Friends of the Alliance were formed in countries where such groups did not previously exist. All sections of the local Jewish communities are represented in these new organizations, Dr. Chouraqui reported.
