A resolution condemning Arab propaganda in Latin America which joins neo-Nazi groups in advocating anti-Semitism, and calling upon the people of South America “to fight actively against Nazi atrocities,” was adopted here today by the South American executive of the World Jewish Congress.
The executive, holding its 10th annual session, also called attention to the fact that many Nazis hold public office in West Germany; noted that Communist East Germany has recently become a center of “violent anti-Israeli attacks”; and requested West Germany to amend its restitution laws so as to make it possible for more victims of Nazism to claim compensation “without discrimination.”
Another resolution called on the Government of the Soviet Union to facilitate freedom of cultural and religious expression for Jews in the USSR, and requested that the Moscow Government permit the emigration of Jews who want to go abroad for purposes of family reunification.
Addressing the conference, Dr. Moises Goldman, outstanding leader of Argentine Jewry, called upon the world to fight against the resurgence of Nazism, before it is too late. Other addresses were delivered by Dr. Isaac Goldenberg, president of DAIA, central organization of Argentine Jewry; Dr. Aba Gefen, charge d’affaires of the Israel Embassy here; Samuel Malamud, of Brazil; and Bezalel Sherman, representing the North American section of the WJC.
