Many Jewish communities of the South have sent in advance payments toward the $3,100,000 Emergency Fund of the United Jewish Campaign, David A. Brown, national chairman, announced.
The United Jewish Campaign of Memphis, Tenn., has sent in a check for $8,000 representing its full share of the emergency fund.
The United Jewish Campaign of Arkansas has forwarded a check for $5,000 toward the emergency fund.
The State of Alabama during the past week increased its previous total advance to $15,000. The Louisiana Campaign Committee has increased its remittances to this fund to $10,700. Texas has increased remittances to the Emergency Fund to $13,000.
Kansas City, Mo., has to its credit to date a total of $10,000 toward the Emergency Fund.
Simultaneously with the contributions from the South, the Western and Eastern States that have already made partial payments, are continually increasing their totals. The State of Iowa has to its credit to date the sum of $12,000. Wisconsin has transmitted $15,000. A similar amount has also been received from the Committee of Detroit. The Committee of Paterson, N.J. has increased its advance to $9,000.
With a total of $644,000 thus far received in response to appeal issued by Mr. David A. Brown, another plea has been made by the National Chairman in the form of a letter which is being sent to various communities throughout the country that have not as yet participated in the Emergency Fund.
