Soviet Ambassador A. Panyushkin and British Ambassador Sir Oliver Franks, as well as members of the American Cabinet and numerous Senators and members of the House, were among the guests attending the reception tendered here last night by Israel Ambassador Eliahu Elath in celebration of the second anniversary of Israel’s independence.
Diplomatic representatives of more than 25 nations were present at the affair, including Madame Pandit of India and the Indonesian Ambassador, Ali Sastroamidjojo. The State Department was represented by Under-Secretary of State James E. Webb. The guests also included Dr. Walter Clay Lowdermilk, author of the plan for the Jordan Valley Authority, and Major General John Hilldring.
