The Soviet representative on the four-power Allied Commission has again refused to permit the Austrian Government to restore property located in the Soviet zone which was seized by the Mazis from Jewish owners, it was learned today.
One case involved claims by Josephine Stiassny and Friedrich Weinwurm, while the second involved Josef Weiss, now living in Melbourne. In both instances, Chancellor Leopold Figl certified the cases as ready for restitution and the three Western Powers agreed. However, the Soviet representative insisted that the matter lay within the competence of his commanding officer because the property was located in the Soviet zone.
