The Soviet Union will not send any delegate to the international conference on the role of science in the development of new countries which is scheduled to be held this month in Rehovot, Israel, it was learned here today. This will probably be the case also with all other countries in the Soviet bloc.

In reply to the invitations, the Soviet Union and other East European countries said that the scientists invited had “previous engagements.” Other Communist countries ignored the invitations and did not reply to them at all.

Meanwhile, Professor Yigael Yadin, a Hebrew University archaeologist and Israel’s’ former Chief of Staff, left for Moscow today to participate in the Moscow Congress of Orientalisms to be held next week. He will be joined by five other Israeli scholars invited to the conference.
