The Soviet delegate to the Big Four deputies’ conference here on settlement of the Austrian question yesterday voiced objections to a proposed clause which would permit restitution to Austrian Jews for property lost in that country immediately following the 1938 Anschluse.
The objections, raised by Georgi N. Zarubin, Russian .Ambassador to Britain end Soviet delegate to the parley, centered chiefly around the question of a date after which Austria would have to pay restitution to U.N. nationals who lost their property in the country. The Western delegates proposed that the date be fixed as of March 10, 1938, when Austria was invaded by Germany. Zarubin suggested that the date be fixed from the day the country of the national seeking restitution entered the war.
