Soviet-dominated Countries Asked to Permit Jews to Leave for Israel

Moshe Kol, Youth Aliyah director, addressing the General Zionist youth movement conference here, expressed “grave interest” in the stoppage of Jewish immigration to Israel from Rumania and in the developments regarding Jews in other East European countries. He called on the Soviet satellite countries to allow their Jewish citizens to proceed to Israel “instead of deporting them somewhere.”

Israel authorities have received permission from Hungarian authorities to transfer the remains of Haviva Raik and Raphael Reis, Palestinian youths who parachuted behind the enemy lines during World War II and were caught and tortured to death by Hungarian fascists. The preparations for transferring the remains to Israel have already begun, it was learned here.
