The Jewish Colonization Association according to its agreement recently concluded with the Soviet Government, is now authorized to carry on relief work among the Jews who desire to emigrate from the Soviet Union.
The activity of the Ica, according to the agreement, is defined as follows: (1) To inform the emigrants of the regulations with regard to the documents required before they leave the Soviet Union and enter the countries of immigration; (2) to inform the emigrants of the conditions of settlement in the countries of immigration; (3) to facilitate the obtaining of travel tickets by the emigrants on favorable conditions; (4) to assist the competent institutions in organizing foreign-language courses for the emigrants, and to prepare them for professional activity; (5) to assist the Jews of the Soviet countries by the transmission of funds from their relatives resident in other countries.
In accordance with the agreement the Ica has decided to open information offices for emigrants in a number of important centres. The head office will be situated in Moscow, where the entire activities in this new field of work will be centralized. The new activity of the Ica in this direction will be started in June.
