Georgia has a Jewish population of 36,000 besides European Jews, most of them members of collective farms and cooperative societies, it is reported in connection with the fifteenth anniversary of the inclusion of the region into the Soviet Union.
Fourteen Jewish collective farms have been established with 800 families in the past three years. About 250 Jewish families are to be settled this year in the fertile Kolchys Valley. A number of schools, libraries, reading rooms and clubs have been organized to improve the cultural position of the Jews.
