High praise for Gen. Ivan D. Cherniakovsky, Jewish front commander of the Russian Army reported to have reached German soil, was given here today by Major General John R. Deane of the U. S. Military Mission to Russia.
Returning from a ten-month stay in Russia during which he met Gen. Cherniakovsky, the American general, at a press conference today, said: “Gen. Cherniakovsky is the most colorful of the Russian generals I met, both, by reason of his youth – his age being 36 – and because of the sense of leadership and personal magnetism which he radiates.”
