Israel’s Prime Minister Levi Eshkol received a message today from Soviet Premier Alexei N. Kosygin, counseling Israel against any action that might aggravate the current Israeli-Arab crisis. (Mr. Kosygin was reported to have sent a similar message to President Nasser of Egypt.)
While the text of Mr. Kosygin’s letter to Israel was not made public immediately. Mr. Kosygin’s attitude was said to be “moderate,” especially when viewed in the context of the Soviet Government’s harsh, anti-Israeli statements of last week. In the earlier statements, in Moscow as well as at the United Nations Security Council, Israel was accused of planning “aggression” against its neighboring Arab states.
