The Soviet commissariat of education has decided to transfer the library and museum of the Ope, the Society for Spreading Culture Among the Jews, to the Kiev Institute for Jewish Culture and has assigned 3,000 roubles for shipping it from Leningrad to Kiev.
On December 30 the Ope, which had been in existence for more than 70 years, was liquidated by the Soviet government. The library contains over 10,000 valuable books and its archives are rich in old manuscripts.
