An Israeli who had been sentenced to four years’ imprisonment by a Soviet court, last December, has been released and is now in a Western country, it was reported here today. The Israeli, Josef Givon-Guttmann, described as a “mysterious adventurer of Swiss origin,” was charged with spreading anti-Soviet propaganda, smuggling, and trading in pornographic material. News of Givon-Guttmann’s release was contained in a letter to a friend here.
