Hope for the continued existence of the Yiddish dailies in Soviet Russia is seen in the adoption of a resolution at a general newspaper conference here asking the Soviet government to subsidize the press of the minority nationalities.
Their plea is based on the ground that the minorities constitute groups of “lower cultural rank” and the educational value of its press is, therefore, of more pressing importance to Russia than the organs of the majority. With some support from the Government, it is believed, the Yiddish dailies will be able to continue to appear, as they cannot exist on subscriptions as their sole support.
