At the celebration ceremony in Madrid today a number of speakers, including government officials, emphasized the value of Maimonides to Spain and his contribution to world philosophy and medicine. It was pointed out that much of the medical advice given by Maimonides is still used in modern medicine.
Numerous Jewish delegations from all parts of the world arrived in Madrid today to participate in the Maimonides celebration. The delegates will leave tomorrow for Cordoba to represent their communities at the festivities there on Wednesday.
