A special council of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations will open in Chicago

on April 13th. All arrangement for this conference are now complete, and sessions will be held at the Congress Hotel. It is expected that there will be approximately 500 delegates, representing Reform Congregations of America. Mr. Julius Rosenwald will act as temporary chairman.

The Chicago Council is being called to consider among other things the question of financing the Union’s activities which include the Hebrew Union College, Department of Synagogue and School Extension, Board of Delegates on Civil Rights, National Federation of Temple Sisterhoods, and the National Federation of Temple Brotherhoods. It is also proposed to amend the constitution, calling for an assessment on congregational expenditures as the method of securing a regular income for the Union, one of the advocates of this plan being Judge Horace Stern of the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia.
