The 16th anniversary of the battle of the Warsaw Ghetto was commemorated tonight with the opening of an exhibit of wood sculpture depicting the life of the “shtetl,” the Jewish village of Eastern Europe obliterated by the Nazis. Wood carvings and bas-reliefs by Berei Satt, 79-year-old Polish-born sculptor, were shown at ceremonies in Stephen Wise Congress House. The exhibit is sponsored by the American Jewish Congress in cooperation with the Morris L. Schaver Foundation of Detroit.
