The Ministry of Development announced a special allocation of 1,000,000 pounds ($555,000) today to speed up the search for water in the Negev, the southern desert. The action was a result of the severe drought in Israel this year which cost the country most of its winter crops. Most of the allocation will be used to finance additional geological surveys and to increase the number of borings.
