The Immigration Committee of the House of Representatives will give a special hearing on Thursday to Congressman Nathan D. Perlman of New York, on his bill to liberalize the present Immigration Law by exempting from the quota the parents, wives, and minor children of citizens and declarants.
This is the first hearing by the Immigration Committee on various proposals for legislation of this character which have been introduced. At present no plans have been made for anyone else to appear before the Committee and whether or not others will appear is uncertain at this time.
It is learned that Louis Marshall is expected in Washington today and will be invited to appear before the Immigration Committee.
Senator Lenroot of Wisconsin introduced a bill into the Senate to exempt from the quota the husbands of American citizens. At present only wives of American citizens are exempt.
The Society for Ethical Culture will receive more than $1,700,000 under the will of Robert B. Hirsch, who died on Sept. 23, 1924, according to the appraisal of his estate.
