A cabinet crisis appears to be looming in the aftermath of a closed-door five-hour meeting of the Gahal cabinet group late tonight. The Gahal members discussed their party’s position regarding the United States peace initiative and took a secret decision. One Gahal cabinet minister, however, said upon emerging from the meeting: “It is possible that we may have to resign from the government.” The Gahal group is concerned with the possibility of having to evacuate occupied territories. Before tomorrow’s crucial cabinet meeting, Gahal ministers are to discuss the situation with Premier Golda Meir and with other government ministers.
