Special services for Israel’s independence anniversary were offered in the Great Synagogue of Stockholm this week-end when Chief Rabbi Kurt Wilhelm likened the importance for the Jewish people of Israel’s independence with the emancipation a century ago of the individual Jew. At a reception given by Ambassador M. Yachil, leading diplomats and members of the Swedish Cabinet and Parliament joined representative Swedish Jews and personalities of the world of science, education and culture in hailing Israel’s anniversary.
