Four prominent Israelis were mentioned today as the possible new chairman of the Jewish Agency following the death of Louis A. Pincus.
The four are Deputy Premier Yigal Allon, who is also education minister; Yitzhak Rabin, former chief of staff and Ambassador to the United States; Arye Eliav, former Labor Party secretary general; and Yaacov Tsur, chairman of the Jewish National Fund.
Interviewed on Israel Radio, Tsur said he was not interested in becoming chairman. He said nobody has asked him to take the job and it was too early to speculate on a successor to Mr. Pincus. He added that as a close friend of Mr. Pincus he was insulted that even before the late chairman was buried newspapers were playing a guessing game about his successor. He said Mr. Pincus had a special character and it will not be easy to replace him.
“I hope that when they do come to it,” Tsur said, “it will not be a game of names, but they will choose someone who can take the burden.”

Due to a mechanical error in transmission from overseas, a story from Vienna in the July 18 Daily Bulletin stated that 200 Soviet Jews who emigrated to Israel are now in Vienna seeking permission to return to the USSR. The correct figure should have been 100.
