Even if the hordes of Hitler sweep over the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, we may confidently hope that the spirit of Hebrew University will continue, said Professor William F. Albright of Johns Hopkins University at a reception given in his honor today at the Harmonie Club, by Maurice Wertheim, under the auspices of the American Friends of the Hebrew University.
“Like all other universities, Hebrew University does not consist of its buildings alone-it is made up of its staff, men of great mind and spirit,” Professor Albright said. “Hebrew University expresses American ideals in Palestine and its President, Dr. Judah L. Magnes, is the finest representative of those ideals. If Hebrew University has a chance to develop it will do very great things not only for the Jewish world but for the Arab people of Palestine and all the surrounding lands.”
