The spokesman said that the term “holy places’ in Palestine referred to the creation of a “corpus separatum” consisting of Jerusalem and environs under international administration in accordance with the 1947 United Nations resolution that decreed the partition of Palestine. The term also refers to international guarantees for holy places in the rest of the country, the spokesman said. He added, however, that the problem is intricate and a solution seems distant.
