Formation of a city-wide citizens’ committee to sponsor the musical festival of the Jewish National Fund was announced yesterday by Dr. Israel Goldstein, president.
The festival will take place Sunday evening, November 4, at Carnegie Hall. Three noted Jewish artists will appear on the program: Toscha Seidel, violinist; Mischa Levitzki, pianist, and Victor Chenkin, singer of folk songs.
The concert has been arranged by the N.B.C. Music Bureau for the benefit of the Jewish National Fund and the proceeds have been entirely dedicated to the Jewish land-redemption program in Palestine.
The city-wide sponsors’ committee is headed by Clarence Y. Palitz and Dr. Ferdinand Sonneborn. Among the members of the committee are:
Herman Bernstein, Sol Bloom, Bernard S. Deutsch, Isidore Epstein, Daniel Frohman, Elisha M. Friedman, Dr. Israel Goldstein, Nathan L. Goldstein, Magistrate B. E. Greenspan, Magistrate Anna M. Kross, Dr. Harris J. Levine, Louis Lipsky, Judge Julian W. Mack, Israel Matz, Louis J. Moss, Dr. David DeSola Pool, N. D. Perlman, David Pinski, Nelson Ruttenberg, Morris Rothenberg, Robert Szold and Dr. Stephen S. Wise. Mrs. Israel Goldstein and Mrs. Alcan Hirsch are vice-chairmen. Louis P. Rocker is treasurer and Mrs. Louis I. Barst is financial secretary.
