The first “report” meeting on Tuesday of the workers in the $139,000 Jewish Welfare Fund Campaign, of which the United Jewish Appeal will be the main beneficiary, held in a spirit of high enthusiasm, gave strong promise that the drive which began April 7 and is to terminate on the 17th, will be one of the most successful ever held in this city.

Led by A. B. Frey as chairman, Irvin Bettman, Dean Isidor Loeb and Dr. M. G. Selig as co-chairmen and Aaron S. Rauh and Aaron Waldheim, honorary chairmen, Prof. Gustave Klausner, secretary and Edward G. Platt, treasurer, the canvassing teams that announced their progress at Tuesday’s rally evinced determination to drive ahead toward an “over-the-top” record which was brought definitely within reach by the chairman’s announcement that more than fifty per cent of the quota had been obtained in the first three days of the campaign. In addition to the United Jewish Appeal, the St. Louis Y. M. H. A. and sixteen other Jewish philanthropies are to be beneficiaries of this campaign which is now expected to establish a new record in the giving history of this city’s Jewish community.

The honorary vice-chairman of the campaign are Aaron Fuller, Julius Glaser, Marcus Harris, I. Mathes, Morton J. May, Sydney M. Shoenberg, Abraham Tober, Maurice Weil and David P. Wohl.

The executive board consists of the following: Samuel Ferer, Robert V. Friedman, Leo C. Fuller, Alvin D. Goldman, Gilbert Harris, Benjamin Loeb, Emil Mayer, Blanche Renard, Charles M. Rice and Ernest W. Stix.

Committee chairmen included: R. Morton Moss, Howard F. Baer, Mrs. Leo Rosenheim, E. Harry Austerlitz, Karl M. Vetsburg, David Kriegshaber, Joe B. Colin, Milton Hellman, Ferdinand S. Bach.

The campaign is being directed by M. Robert Herman of the national field organization of the United Jewish Appeal.
