A decision to convert the ancient Jewish cemetery here into a sports field was adopted today by the municipal council, provoking great indignation among the Jewish population.
Many historical Jewish graves will be removed in effecting the change. Among them are also the graves of the Wilner Gaon, whom Jews throughout the world revere for his genius, and of the Ger Zadek, well known figure in Jewish history.
