The standards set for civil aviation in Israel equals anything established for European or American civil aviation, Robert Ashton, head of an International Civil Aviation Organization mission in Israel, declared today.
Mr. Ashton, a British aviation expert, has served as a consultant to Israel for the past five years under the expanded United Nations technical assistance program. Mr. Ashton, who left here today upon the completion of his tour of duty, said that aircraft overhauled in Israel were given universally recognized certificates of airworthiness which guaranteed that the job need not be re-inspected at their home fields.
