Construction of the new buildings of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, at a cost of $3,000,000, will begin in a few days. it was learned upon the departure Friday night of Dr. Cyrus Adler, president of the Jewish Theological Seminary, who sailed for Palestine on the steamer “Roma.”
Before Dr. Adler sailed, contracts for the buildings to be erected on the site from 122nd to 123rd Street, adjacent to the present Seminary building, were signed.
The first unit will be the Jacob H. Schiff Memorial Library to house the large collection of books of the Seminary, exhibits of the American Jewish Historical Society and an exhibition hall. The Louis S. Brush Memorial Dormitory building, for which the late Mr. Brush left $1,500,000. will be the second building erected.
The third building erected will be for the Teachers’ Institute, containing faculty rooms, classrooms and an auditorium, the gift of Israel Unterberg as a memorial to his parents.
The buildings will be uniform in architecture, six stories high and of colonial style.
