About 200 German-Jewish families will be settled in two new villages near Petach Tikvah, on which work was begun yesterday. It is expected that the families will be able to move in about three months.
The two villages will be known as Maimonia, to commemorate the 800th anniversary of the birth of Maimonides, and Kfar Syrkin, in honor of the late founder and leader of the Socialist Zionist movement, Dr. Nachman Syrkin. They will cost about #70,000, or approximately $350,000. The money will be contributed partly by the settlers themselves, the balance to be supplies by the Keren Kayemeth, Jewish national land redemption fund, and the Jewish Agency.
