Mutual Security Director Harold E. Stassen has announced the appointment of Mrs. Dorothy Houghton, of Red Oak, Iowa, as assistant director of MSA to be in charge of refugee problems and assume responsibility for studying U.S. immigration policies.
Mrs. Houghton, the MSA said, will head an entirely new MSA division “for refugees, migration and travel.” Her responsibilities will include problems involving refugees not only in Europe but also in the Middle East and Far East.
An active club woman, Mrs. Houghton served from 1950 to 1952 as president of the General Federation of Womens’ Clubs. Her husband is President of the Houghton State Bank in Iowa. She holds membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution and other organizations.
