The State Department today ordered an additional stay of execution for seven notorious Nazi war criminals under death sentence in Germany for involvement in the slaughter of European Jewry. The Department said that it will not allow High Commissioner John McCloy to carry out the sentences for at least 30 more days in order to permit an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.
