Consideration for human rights must enter into international agreements, Under-Secretary of State Dean Acheson has stated in a letter to Joseph M. Proskauer, president of the American Jewish Committee, in connection with a brief entitled “Human Rights in the Peace Treaties,” which the Committee submitted to the State Department.
The brief, which outlines the need for international assurance of individual and minority group rights in peace treaties with former enemy nations, is being circulated to State Department officers working on treaties and to those working with the U.N. Commission on Human Rights, Mr. Acheson said.
