State Dept. is Told Delay in Transfer of 100,000 Jews Opposes Truman’s Wishes

The American League for a Free Palestine today announced that it has informed the State Department of its opposition to any further delay in implementing the Anglo-American inquiry committee’s recommendation that 100,000 European displaced Jews be transferred to Palestine.

In a letter replying to a State Department invitation to present its views on the inquiry committee’s report, the League termed such delay a “violation” of both the unanimous wishes of the committee and President Truman. However, the League in formed the State Department that it would make its comments and suggestions on the report within the required 30 days.
