A State Department spokesman said today that the United States Government has urged the United Nations to remove from the relief rolls of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees all Arab refugees receiving military training.

The Department’s expression was seen here as a response to the announcement by the Palestine Liberation Organization that Arab refugees would fight in Vietnam against United States forces. Most of the refugees concerned are in Jordan and the Egyptian-held Gaza Strip. They receive U.S. surplus food through UNRWA. The United States has contributed about 70 percent of the UNRWA budget since it was established in 1950.

It was learned meanwhile that Washington has requested detailed reports on the activities of the Palestine Liberation Organization in the wake of PLO leader Ahmed Shu-kairy’s announcement that PLO members will fight in Vietnam against United States forces.
