The conference rejected a proposal for the abolition of Hebrew as a compulsory subject on the curricula of Theological colleges. The delegates, including representatives from universities in Koenigsberg, Helsingfors, Dorpat and Riga, discussed the proposal. A number of professors argued that the Hebrew language was difficult to teach and that authorized translations of the delegates disagreed, defeating the proposal.
