A 30-foot high replica of the Statue of Liberty was unveiled today at the entrance to Israel’s largest supermarket, where a “Live Like An American” exhibit will open this morning. The store, “Kol Bo Shalom,” is staging an “American Fortnight,” during which more than $350,000 worth of American products will be on display for sale.
The American products range from clothing to gadgets and foodstuffs. A statue of Lincoln has been placed at the entrance to an “American Pavilion” in the store. American Indian dancers and cowboys will perform daily Indian dances.
A saloon modeled on those of the American Wild West will provide American whisky. This is the second event of its kind. Last year, a “British Fortnight” was staged. The promoters hope that these promotions will increase two-way trade.
