Legalization of the status of the Keren Kayemeth and the Keren Hayesod in Poland was made known here today by the Polish Government. The Karen Hayesod reported that despite the fact that the number of Jews in Poland this year is somewhat less than last year, the current drive for funds has been more successful than last year’s.
A spokesman for the Keren Hayesod said that not one Jew in Poland has refused to contribute to the current drive. The Keren Kayemeth campaign now under way is earmarked for reclamation of land in the Negev.
A press conference arranged here by the press attache of the Israeli legation was attended by all newspapers and news agencies. The only publication which did not report on the conference was the local Catholic paper. A Polish-language magazine concerning the state of Israel is now being circulated among 170 Polish papers by the Israeli legation. The papers have been printing numerous items from this publication.
