The political status of Palestine once more becomes uncertain due to the new demands formulated by France asking for their fulfillment before ratifying the Treaty of Lausanne.
France will insist, firstly that an agreement be reached between Turkey and France determining the northern frontier of Syria, Secondly, that Turkey should pay the interest on the Turkish bonds which are held for the most part by French citizens. Thirdly, that a satisfactory arrangement be made regarding the French schools now extant in Turkey, most of which are schools maintained by the Alliance Israelite Universelle. And fourthly, that the decree providing that only Moslems may be employed by the Administrative bodies of Turkey be vacated.
Until the Treaty of Lausanne is ratified, the Palestinian government will be hampered in passing laws, which are dependent on the international recognition of the political status of Palestine.
