The trial of Nathan Friedman-Yellin, leader of the Stern Group, and his aide M. Schmulevitz, was adjourned in Acre today and will resume Monday. A lengthy cross-examination by the prosecutor highlighted today’s proceedings.
Friedman-Yellin denied any knowledge of or connection with the “Fatherland Front,” reportedly a splinter of the Sternist organization. He told the court that he had heard of this group only from newspaper reports. A leaflet signed “Fatherland Front” claimed responsibility for the assassination of Count Bernadotte, the late U.N. Palestine mediator.
